High School Mission Trip | Participants Only

About

We are all called to be the hands of feet of Christ.  One way to answer the call is to join Nativity’s Youth Ministry at Catholic Heart Work Camp (CHWC) for our Summer Mission of Service. CHWC provides parish youth groups, teens and adult leaders service opportunities to restore homes and HEARTS, feed the hungry, lift the spirits of children, bring joy to the elderly and disabled, and offer assistance while partnering with social agencies.

We welcome students currently in grades 9-12 to join us on the trip.  We also are seeking adult leaders wanting to serve along side teens!

This year we are headed to Oil City, PA with Catholic Heart Work Camp from July 21 – 26, 2019!

Attendance
Attendance at all formation, fundraising meetings & events is required for teen participants and adult leaders.  Talk with Ms Ingrid if/when an issue should arise.

Devices
Teens are not allowed to bring their cell phones on this mission. Leave them at home.  Adult vols are required to use them to connect with home base.  Otherwise, adults are to be present to the teens and the mission before them.

Attire
All participants will wear a Nativity T-shirt provided for each day.
– Participants are highly encouraged to wear work pants or scrubs.
– Ladies must wear minimum 5 inch inseam shorts – even for bed time.
– Gentlemen must wear sleeved shirts at all times and 5 inch inseam shorts at all times.

COST
The total cost is $500 for students and $100 for adult leaders (includes cost of t-shirt and program expenses, does not cover any personal expenses).
– $250 Student/$100 Adult Leader – Non-refundable deposit due February 4th with completed application
– $250 balance due March 17th – Not refundable after March 30th

-There are 4 forms: 2 are Fillable PDFs, 1 is not a Fillable, 1 you will be given at the Feb 4 meeting
– In the Fillables, most FIELDS require information.
– If you need to leave a FIELD blank because it’s not applicable to you (ie home, phone, allergies, medications) write NA.
– You can TAB or use the mouse to navigate from FIELD to FIELD.
– Some PDF Fillable Fields can be challenging.  Take your time.
CHWCs forms Require a Notary. Do NOT sign in absence of a Notary.
Notary is available at your bank and UPS (for $5 fee), or Ms Ingrid can notarize at Feb 4 meeting (no charge).

Adult Leaders

All prospective adult leaders will be interviewed and vetted by the Director of Youth Ministry (DYM) for suitability in this ministry.  Once vetted and approved, adults must be made compliant with the policies of the Diocese of Arlington’s Office of Child Protection and Victim Assistance (OCPVA).

Compliance includes:

1) OCPVA Background Packet – given to volunteer by the parish/DYM
2) Virtus Training –  Create profile and schedule to attend a class.

OCPVA Compliance required by March 30.
