Our Lady of Knock Society
The Kathy Davis Chapter of Our Lady of Knock Society was founded in 1996 at Nativity Catholic Church. Its purpose is to promote social, ethnic, cultural and spiritual awareness of Irish-Catholic heritage, with specific devotion to Our Lady of Knock. Membership is not limited to those of Irish-Catholic heritage. It is open to all interested men and women.
The group hosts or participates in parish-wide events, including an annual card party in November and the Knights of Columbus St. Patrick’s Dinner Dance in March. Funds raised are donated to the Shrine at Knock, Ireland, Nativity Catholic School and various charities selected by the members each year, depending on need.
About 8 years ago, a notice in the bulletin brought attention to the need for meals at the Lamb Center. Kathi St. Germain presented this to Our Lady of Knock members, who responded positively. All participating members make the same simple, hearty casserole. The meals are either dropped off at the Church parking lot on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 11:10 am or at a designated point on Tuesday evening. The meals are then delivered on Wednesday to the Lamb Center by 1 or 2 members. People outside of Our Lady of Knock have expressed interest and have joined us in providing a casserole. We welcome anyone who would like to join us in making a casserole, preferably every month or, if not possible, a casserole every other month. Consider joining us.
