On This Date in Nativity History

26 August 2015

On this date, Wednesday, 26 August 2015, the Parish celebrated the 25th anniversary of the arrival of Sisters from the Handmaids of Reparation to administer and staff the parish’s religious education program with a Mass of Thanksgiving for Sister Mary Attilia, Sister Donatella, and Sister Ernestine.  Nativity’s Facebook page described the event with these words:

” The Church was overflowing with love.  Many priests and deacons who served with the sisters over the last 25 years were there, including Father Bob, Father Wilson Korpi, Father Cedric Wilson, Father John Cregan, Father David Martin, Father Michael Bazan, Deacon Jose Pardo, Deacon Jose Lopez, and Deacon Richard Kelly.  The combined festival choir performed beautiful songs, inspired beyond their usual artistry to make the event a night to remember for all.  Also performing admirably was the Hispanic choir with singers of great emotion who captured the global reach of the sisters’ teachings.  After the Mass ended, the large crowd of well-wishers descended to the Parish Center, where an enormous array of delicious food and a highly entertaining program awaited the sisters and their many admirers. “

At the reception following, one of the highlights was a surprise visit by Father Guido Sarducci, all the way from Italy to join in the celebration.  Unfortunately, Father Bob missed his visit because he was called away from the reception for a moment.  However, an alert photographer managed to capture Father Sarducci in the photo below before he had to leave.
