On This Date in Nativity History

11 December 2010

On this date, Nativity celebrated the first Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of Latin America and especially of Mexico.  This feast is always a highlight of the liturgical year for our Spanish-speaking community.  The Feast Day is December 12, and since 2010 has been celebrated at Nativity with a flower-adorned statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe prepared each year for the Mass by volunteers from the Hispanic community, as well as with mariachi music, dancers, and a grand reception following Mass.  As these photos from the celebrations in 2015 (by Don Lemieux) and 2018 (by Mary Castellano) attest, it is always a joyous moment for our Hispanic community.
