Stella Marina Sends 3rd Container to Haiti

Containers Make it to Haiti

On a cold and wet Veteran’s Day 2020, nine volunteers helped us unload three storage units that were filled with newborn and birthing kits, pack and plays, medical equipment, medical supplies, and furniture from Paul VI High School. We were challenged not only by the uncooperative weather, but also the prospect of our 40 foot container not coming! With continued support from Food for the Poor who worked tirelessly with the shipping company, our 40 foot container arrived – 6 hours after the original time planned. Our super volunteers returned and helped us load the shipping container in the dark, pouring rain – with headlamps on – in less than 90 minutes! We also are thankful to Fr. Vaccaro who came and “blessed our mess” as we waited for our container to arrive.

Last we could not have managed this without the support from CubeSmart – whose hallways were filled with all our items – and Interstate Van Lines who provided the many boxes used to ship the items. The container arrived just after Christmas! Our next container is planned for late Spring.

Update on Dr. Maklin

Medical professionals continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, including those in Haiti. Dr. Maklin reached out to request a school bus to transport medical missionaries that have volunteered to fight the virus in Haiti. Thankfully, with the help of Food for the Poor, we were able to grant his request and the bus arrived 30 September!

Please continue to keep Haiti in your prayers.
