Welcome, Fr. Ed Bresnahan!

We welcome Fr. Ed Bresnahan to Nativity!

A Message from Fr. Bresnahan

Dear Nativity!

My name is Fr. Bresnahan and I’m so grateful to get to serve you as your priest!  I’m already thankful for the wonderful welcome Fr. Bob, Fr. Hayes, Fr. Wilson and so many of you have already extended to me and I am looking forward to getting to know you all better soon.

I was born right here in northern Virginia, and grew up at Holy Family parish in Dale City (Where as a toddler, I met Fr. Bob for the first time!).  After attending Bishop O’Connell for high school, I headed to Texas, where I studied History and Classics at the University of Dallas. I took a year off from academic pursuits to do a mission year with NET Ministries (a retreat program based in Minnesota) and finally answered a longtime call in my heart by applying to and entering seminary at St. Charles in Philadelphia.  I was ordained in 2010 and have served at parishes in Fredericksburg and Clifton and as a Chaplain at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria.

When I’m not celebrating Mass or hearing Confessions, you might find me cracking dad jokes with my friends and really anyone who will listen, playing board games, traveling around the world, enjoying the great outdoors (especially camping, or being on the water), and even doing a few crazy tricks like solving the Rubik’s Cube, or a round-off back-hand spring (a holdover from my childhood Olympic gymnastics dreams). You will probably also discover that I really love bacon.

Mostly, I enjoy sharing the beauty of the Catholic faith with anyone and everyone, and I love being a listening ear for folks who are struggling to understand or practice their faith in our crazy modern world.  Know that I pray for you all daily, and if there’s ever anything I can do to help you grow closer to Jesus Christ, just let me know!

God bless you,

Fr. Bresnahan
