Welcome Jennifer
On August 24, 2020, Jennifer Sturgeon joined the Nativity staff as Director of Marriage Enrichment and Ecumenical Ministries. It has been my desire and that of parishioners to strengthen and affirm the vocation of Christian marriage and family life. Pope Francis, in his encyclical “The Joy of Love” proclaimed “Good marriages can always be made better”. This new ministry will provide many opportunities for spouses to deepen their love for each other in Christ.
Ecumenical Ministries will establish fruitful relationships with local churches to engage in dialogue and ministry with our Christian brothers and sisters among clergy and parishioners. It was Jesus’ prayer at the Last Supper “that all may be one”. We also want to nurture and renew relationships with local synagogues and mosques.
Jennifer, her husband Mark and their two teenage sons moved to Burke last year. Mark’s 20-year military career has brought them to Colorado, Slovakia, Poland, and now, the Pentagon. Jennifer holds a Master’s degree in Human Relations, focusing on family and children, from the University of Oklahoma. She has a post-graduate (Ph.D. courses) certificate in Human Services – Social and Community Services. She received a Pre-Cana Instruction Certification and Christian Marriage Courses through the University of Notre Dame.
Please join me in welcoming Jennifer to the Nativity staff.
Blessings,
