Serve outside the Parish

Nativity parish stands in solidarity with the poor and vulnerable, locally and globally. Our former pastor, Fr. Martin, would always say we were generous to the poor around the world and across the street.  We support many local and global outreach opportunities!

Serve as a Liturgical Minister at Mass: It may not seem like it, but there IS a need for young people to serve at Mass on Sundays! You have gifts to share!

Art & Environment

Members of the Liturgical Art & Environment Committee help maintain the highest level of reverence and beauty in our liturgical space. Members of this group use their artistic gifts to plan for the different liturgical seasons by decorating the interior and exterior of the church. Planning meetings are held several times a year on weekday evenings. This Ministry is open to all parishioners.

Choir

Nativity has many talented voices and instrumentalists and has numerous choirs to lead the congregation in its musical expression of prayer.  In addition to Sunday Masses, the choirs sing for Christmas, Holy Week, prayer services, Confirmations, Thanksgiving, and other feasts and special events.  Members of all choirs should be able to make a commitment to attending most of the rehearsals and to singing at Mass most Saturdays or Sundays.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers are Lay people who assist the priests in distributing Holy Communion at Mass.  They may also take communion to home bound parishioners and Catholics in residence at Burke Lake Gardens, Burke Health Care Center, and Heatherwood Retirement Home.  Eucharistic ministers are appointed for a five-year term after attending a diocesan workshop held in the spring.

Ushers & Collectors

The Ministry of Ushers is the oldest lay ministry in the Catholic Church. Ushers welcome all who come to Mass, attend to their needs, assist with seating, and help with the collection. Each weekend liturgy has a “captain” who coordinates the various duties. This ministry is open to men and women from high school age and older.

The Collectors sit with their families, support the Mass during collection time, then return to their seats.
