“At Virginia Tech, the Newman Catholic Campus Ministry is a great community to get involved with to meet new friends and strengthen your faith! We have 3 Masses every Sunday(10am, 12pm, 8pm), small group bible studies, retreats, and lots of social events. The Newman House on Otey St. (near Squires Student Center) is the perfect place to hang out, do homework, play sand volleyball out back, watch movies, go to adoration, or attend daily mass! My favorite Newman events have been Praise and Worship, Mountaintop Sunset Mass, Casino Night, and the Masquerade Ball hosted by our Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Isabella. We also have Sunday Suppers with FREE dinner, dessert, a speaker, and fellowship every Sunday at 6pm. Our Alternative Winter or Spring Break trips are also a great part of Newman. I had an amazing experience in Mexico this winter focusing on solidarity and faith with 6 other Catholic Hokies!
Newman has really helped me stay engaged and strengthen my faith in college, giving me a supportive community of friends and mentors. They have something for everyone no matter where you are on your faith journey. Whether you are still learning how to look up a verse in the bible or if you go to daily mass regularly, there’s a place for you at Newman!
