The Laundry Love initiative consists of regular opportunities to come alongside people who are struggling financially by assisting them with their laundry. Laundry Love partners with local laundromats in cleaning clothes and linens of low-income or no-income families and individuals. We see the laundromat as a place where strangers become friends, kids are known by name, hope is being hustled, and the worth of every human being is acknowledged and celebrated.

Laundry Love events take place once a month at our local partner laundromat and last roughly 2-3 hours. Participants load laundry into the machines and use the detergent provided by our team. In order to respect privacy, we do not touch the laundry. Once the machines are loaded, team members administer the quarters as needed. Once the load is finished, we guide participants to load clothes into dryers and again, go to each machine and load quarters. We visit with guests while their clothes are being washed and bring activities for the children and snacks/drinks to share.Get Involved
Although Fairfax County is considered one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, nearly 30% of Fairfax County school children live at or near the poverty line. Recent studies have determined that absenteeism is linked to not having clean clothes. We are starting a new program where we have identified a specific population of public school students. These students are given laundry bags and may bring their dirty clothes to school on a specific day of the week. Our volunteers pick the laundry up from school and drive it to a Laundromat where a larger team is waiting. The clothes are then washed and folded by our team members, and returned to school for the students to take home with them. It is our hope that this program will prove successful and we can expand it to help more students in the future.Get Involved
