Nativity parishioners, please continue to be aware of email scammers posing as Nativity priests.
Scammers are posing as clergy or church staff, often using names you recognize. They are sending very simple and seemingly harmless messages to begin communication—such as:

- “Do you have a moment?”
- “Can you help me with something quickly?”
- “Are you free to talk?”
These emails may appear friendly and urgent but are designed to trick you into further conversation that could lead to a request for money, gift cards, or sensitive personal information.
Please take a moment to follow these safety tips:

- Always check the sender’s email address carefully. Scammers often use email addresses that look similar to legitimate ones but may include extra characters or misspellings. Check with the parish office if you have a question about any email addresses.
- Do not reply to suspicious messages.
- Do not click links or send any money or gift cards

October 7, 2023 | Email Scam
Watch out for another scam email. A staff member has received an email under the name of “Rev. Bob Cilinski” from a sender using the address schoolmail6252@gmail.com
They used the staff member’s full name as the subject line, and the message reads: “HELLO!!! I do have a request for you to let me know if you got a minute!”
The staff member replied but then realized it was a scam. The second message read: “Great Here is what I want you to do for me because I am a little busy right now. I have been working on incentives and I aimed at surprising some of our diligent staff with gift cards this week. This should be confidential until they all have the gift card as it is a surprise. No calls, just reply to this email. Can you get this done- and how soon”
Delete the message and block the sender!
December 3, 2019 | Text Scam
A staff member has received a text scam from “Fr. Bob.” The number is 208-481-5499.
The message reads:
“Bess you! Fram I need a favor from you, please text me back as soon as possible.
Rev. Robert C. Cilinski”
Please delete and don’t respond

Watch out for another email scam — the sender uses the address emailrfather@gmail.com. There is nothing in the subject line and the message reads: “Are you unoccupied? I need you to do me a favor real quick. Email me back immediately you receive this message. Blessings”
