Lumen Gentium Award

At the Volunteer Ministry Appreciation Mass held August 30,2022, a new Lumen Gentium Award (Light of the Nations) was established at Nativity to honor someone who has given outstanding service to the church.  This years recipients are:

AILEEN SPOON has been a parishioner for over 20 years with her husband Wayne and daughter Molly.  She is most known for singing in the choir and as a cantor at Sunday mass.  She sings at First Communions, Confirmations, weddings, and funerals and lectors at the Saturday morning mass.  Ailleen serves as a sponsor in RCIA and coordinates the RCIC.  She is a eucharistic minister. She served on the Parish Council from 2015-2021 and attends mass every day.  She is kind, thoughtful and treats everyone with respect.

RON RIGGINS has been on the RCIA leadership team for the past 19 years.  Being a convert himself, he has embraced the role of teaching others about the Catholic faith as director of the RCIA program literally helping hundreds of others find a home in the Catholic faith.  Ron has served as Chair of the Parish Finance Council and is a Eucharistic Minister and lector at Sunday and weekday mass.  Ron currently serves as President of Catholic Charities Board of Directors.  Ron and his wife Terri are now approaching retirement and will be moving to Spotsylvania, VA to be with family.  Ron will continue to be a consultant to the finance council and a guest speaker at the RCIA.  Ron is an advisor, friend, and leader in the community.


We are filled with joy to honor Aileen and Ron with the 2022 Lumen Gentium Award.
