NIHCS | The Monument Men

Happy New Year! Your Nativity Italian Heritage and Cultural Society has a lineup of interesting, fun and educational programs planned for 2020.

First up in January: The Monument Men. The movie by that name brought international attention to US efforts during World War II to rescue precious art treasures from Nazi forces that sought, not only to capture much of Europe’s great art, but also to prevent anyone else from possessing it.  Lesser known are efforts during World War I of Italians to save treasures of Northeast Italy from bombings and the advance of the Austrian forces, allied with the Kaiser’s Germany.

Our speaker is Army Colonel  Chuck Davis (Ret.) Davis served 30 years as logistician and Foreign Area Officer, mainly stationed in Italy. He had two assignments at the US Embassy in Rome, a year at the Italian War College, was staff officer in Vicenza, and served as aide-de-camp to an Italian Four-Star General in Verona.

A social hour will follow with snacks, wine and beverages. Please bring dessert, appetizer or wine to share, if you can.

When: Thursday, January 23 | 7:00 – 9:00 pm
Where: Nativity School Cafeteria
Cost:  Members are free and quests are $5.00
