Rosary Ministry

Nativity’s Rosary Ministry is an effective and powerful ministry in our parish.  Our mission is to encourage praying the rosary.  We do that by making rosaries, teaching others to make rosaries, praying with others and sharing our ministry with the youth in our parish.

Pray the World Mission Rosary

World Mission Sunday is October 19.  This year’s theme, chosen by Pope Francis, is “Go and invite everyone to the banquet.”

Celebrate by praying the World Mission Rosary, created by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in 1951—a beautiful way to unite the world in prayer. Each decade represents a region of the world:

Green – for Africa, representing its lush forests and grasslands.
Blue – for the Pacific Islands, surrounded by vast ocean waters.
White – for Europe, symbolizing faith and the seat of the Holy Father in Rome.
Red – for the Americas, representing the blood of martyrs and the fire of missionary zeal.
Yellow – for Asia, symbolizing the dawning light and spiritual awakening in the East.

World Mission Rosaries, handmade by the Nativity Rosary Ministry, are available in the basket at the back of the church. Join us in praying for peace and faith throughout the world.

Pray for Peace in the Middle East

Pray for Peace in the Middle East with your fellow Parishioners!  The Rosary Ministry leads the rosary 3 times a week and we encourage all to join us.  The rosary is prayed:

    • After the noon Masses on Tuesday and Thursday at Nativity
    • Via Zoom on Sunday evenings at 7:30 pm.  Email Brenda at zepfmb@gmail.com for the link (which is sent out just before the meeting)

Come and pray the rosary with us.  We are praying for the people experiencing the terrors of war with the killing, the fear, the evil destruction and the horror in which the families find themselves.  We must pray for these people in any way and every way that we can.

Feel free to take a rosary from the rosary board.  We are reaching out to God in trust and we know He will hear us!

ABOUT THE ROSARY MINISTRY

Praying the Rosary | The rosary is a powerful prayer and can connect us with Jesus.  It can be very difficult to feel connected to Jesus.  Even in prayer, it takes time and focus to feel Jesus’ real and enduring presence.  The rosary provides that time and focus.  The rhythm of the repeated prayers takes us through the mysteries of Jesus and Mary’s life as told in scripture.

Pray the rosary – even if it is one decade at a time.  Your life will change if you set aside time for a daily rosary.  You also create a real opportunity to pray for others who are in need of prayers.  Mary directed the children at Fatima to pray the rosary for world peace.  Whether it be for peace between world powers, peace in our families, peace in our communities and schools, peace in our relationships or even peace within ourselves, the peace of God is something we must constantly ask for.

Providing Rosaries to the Missions | Our rosary makers join with others throughout the world in promoting devotion to Our Lady and in spreading the Gospel of Jesus in His Church.  Our rosaries go to priests all over the world—in Ghana, Kenya, Ireland, Philippines, South America and throughout the United States.  We receive letters telling us how much the people appreciate such beautiful rosaries.  We have pictures of the children holding their rosaries with great pride.  A priest in Africa asked for 200 rosaries so that his entire congregation could gather and pray together.  St. Paul Street Evangelization tells us that they handout 1,000 rosaries a week in their ministry.  This is such an important ministry.

Teaching Others to Make Rosaries | We want you to help us make mission rosaries!  All the supplies are furnished, and you work at home at your own pace.  It takes one meeting to learn how to make a mission rosary.  Classes will be set up in September or October.  If you have old rosaries, broken rosaries or rosaries you receive in the mail, donate them to us!  There are ladies in the parish who restring or repair old or broken rosaries which are sent to the missions.  If we have extra beads, medals or crucifixes we make chaplets, prayer bracelets or one-decade rosaries.
