“Peace in the Storm” | Chronic Pain Support Group

Where is God when good people suffer? What is God’s purpose in the midst of pain? How can I find joy and peace if I am hurting? Nativity Catholic Church is aware of the many challenges that chronic pain and illness pose in the lives of our parishioners. We understand how these conditions can lead to questions of faith, too, and want you to know that you are not alone!  We invite all adult parishioners who have chronic pain or illness to participate in a parish-based, small, faith fellowship group developed by the national ministry called The Peace in the Storm Project.

Details

We will meet every 2nd Thursday afternoon of the month (after the 12:00 pm Mass and rosary/chaplet) in the Fr. Ready Conference Room, to reflect, pray, and deepen our understanding of God’s love, presence, and purpose with and through health challenges within the context of our Catholic faith and parish community.  Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch.

When: 2nd Thursdays of the month | 12:45 pm – 2:15 pm
Where: Fr. Ready Room

Discussion themes are based on the inspirational devotional, Peace in the Storm: Meditations on Chronic Pain and Illness by Catholic author and speaker Maureen Pratt.  Written from theologically sound and honest, encouraging insight, the book has been granted the nihil obstat and imprimatur by Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano, Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, CT, and is the only Catholic devotional focused on living with chronic pain and illness to have been granted this approval. Group participants will receive The Peace in the Storm Project Discussion Guide at no cost.
