Nativity Catholic Church’s Operation Starfish® and its subsidiary ministries, Fish4Hope and Stella Marina, provide opportunities for encountering the poor of Haiti, Jamaica and Honduras. Through community development, small business and safe childbirth projects, we make a difference one person at a time.
Operation Starfish® began in 1998 when Father Dick Martin invited parishioners to save just 50 cents a day—making small sacrifices to create meaningful change in the lives of the poor in Haiti.
Learn MoreWe visited our newest parish partnership in El Colirio and Monteverde, Honduras, through Operation Starfish® this past July 2025.
It was an incredible opportunity and we are looking forward to returning there with a group of Young Adults in July 2026.
Join Us Mission Trip 2026
JAMAICA – Operation Starfish has expanded its reach to Jamaica, where our Nativity mission teams have built homes and visited orphanages and senior care facilities. Operation Starfish has also partnered with Food For The Poor and the University of the West Indies to provide full medical school scholarships to promising future physicians. To date, three students have earned their M.D., and our fourth scholar, Keonie White, is set to graduate in 2025.
HAITI – Father Martin often said that when you look into the eyes of the Haitian people, you see the face of Jesus. Those who have traveled and served in Haiti have witnessed this truth firsthand, along with one constant that remains despite countless struggles and challenges: Hope. Today, work is underway on the 15th village development project—Nativity Village at Bois Lourou—and construction has begun on a standby power system for New Hope Hospital in Cap-Haïtien. Check the Haiti map to see our projects.
HONDURAS – In 2023, Operation Starfish built the first medical clinic in El Colirio. Nativity mission teams traveled in 2024 and 2025 to support the development of a second clinic in Monte Verde. Efforts are currently underway to build additional clinics in Guaimaca and San Juan. Another mission team will travel to Honduras in 2026 to break ground on the next project.
Young Adults, join us on our upcoming mission trip this July!
