The dispensation of the Sunday and Holy Days Mass obligation has been lifted. We welcome and encourage the Faithful to return to full in-person participation of the Sunday Eucharist. This obligation does not apply to those who are ill; those who have reason to believe that they were recently exposed to the coronavirus, or another serious or contagious illness; those who are confined to their home, a hospital, or nursing facility; or those with serious underlying health conditions. One should consult his or her local pastor if questions arise about the obligation to attend Mass (canon 1245 and Catechism of the Catholic Church, n. 2181).
Worship Aids | Worship aids for this weekend’s live streamed Masses celebrating the 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Please note: online worship aids are only provided for our Saturday Vigil and Sunday 11:00 am livestreamed Masses. Hardcopies of the worship aids are provided at the church during all Masses.
Second Collection | There will be a second collection during this weekend’s Masses in benefit of The Catholic University of America. Founded in 1887 by the U.S. bishops, The Catholic University of America is the national university of the Catholic Church in the United States, educating seminarians, religious, bishops, and laity to advance the dialogue between faith and reason. As a comprehensive institution of higher education, Catholic University seeks to impart the truth through excellence in teaching and research, in service to the Church, the nation, and the world. With five Catholic University alumni up for canonization, the University embraces the mandate of Pope Leo XIII at its founding to “give to the Church and the nation her best citizens”. Shape the next generation of Catholic leaders by Supporting the National Collection for The Catholic University of America! Give in-person during Masses or donate online.
Father Hayes explains the significance of every part of the Mass according to Scripture, Theologians, and Tradition.
