Family Ministry

In this stage of life that can often be hectic, we believe having a personal relationship with God and a home in the local Church will help parents and children along the way.

Growing Together as Families

Our ministry offers a community of friendship and accompaniment for parents and also for the children.  It’s organized and led by parents in our parish, so it’s created by and for families!  Mom’s befriend other mom’s, young children make their first “Church friends,” and dad’s befriend other dad’s.

We welcome families in various stages of life, from pregnancy to elementary age kids.  In our ministry, “family” encompasses families in all shapes and sizes- married couples, single parents, adopted children, one child, multiple children, etc. If you have a younger child but also older children, you’re welcome to bring the entire family!

Catholic Resources for Families

Whole Family Gatherings

We meet on the 1st Saturday of the month from 9:30–11:00 am in the Cafeteria, with childcare offered in the same room. We provide the coffee and snacks- you just RSVP and show up! The childcare will be led by volunteers and will offer activities for the kids so the parents have some time for conversation with each other.

Supporting New Parents!

We are excited to celebrate all new life in our church! We want to help you as you welcome your child home whether that’s setting up a Meal Train or getting you connected with your Family Ministry or anything else your family needs. We look forward to connecting with you and serving your family.

To get connected, email Alison Fram at afram@nativityburke.org

Fellowship & Service

We celebrate new life by organizing a Meal Train when a family involved with our ministry welcomes a new child.  Other families sign up to drop off a meal at your door.

We also will offer week-day social meet-ups, inviting parents who are home during the day with their kids to meet at a park or somewhere local.  Join the email list to get updates for when these are planned.

We also enjoy serving the community as families, and including our children in the process.  We’ve supported Gabriel Project, have provided meals for the residents at Christ House, have collected toys for ECHO, etc.  Join the email list to hear about upcoming opportunities.

FAQ's- Young Families

We know that it can be difficult to bring little ones to Mass sometimes.  We not only want to see your whole family at Mass, but the Church, as a whole, needs it!  Check out some answers to common questions about young families at Nativity.

Also check out Nativity’s Sensory Mass on the second Sunday of every month at the 1:00 pm Mass.  This Mass includes accommodations to help reduce over-stimulation and sensory overload. The Sensory Mass is open to anyone who wishes to participate, especially anyone with sensory issues.

Meet our Director

Welcome to our Family Ministry!  I was born and raised in Burke and went to Nativity growing up, so it’s been really special to return here to work. I have a BA in Theology from Mount St. Mary’s University and have been working in parish ministry since 2012. I’m here to help you find a community with other young families so you can have friends at Church and grow in your relationship with God. I hope to meet you and your family soon! – Alison Fram
